Damn you Kubo Tite! Damn you! I had already read the script for 237... but now with the pictures... ::shakes head:: Poor Hime. Right after Matsumoto, she's my favorite female character. There always seems to be that one character who gets the short, rotting, shitty end of the stick, and Orohime gets it. Her and Renji... ::laughs:: But damn... KT's art is getting really really good. It's amazing the progress you see in it, and this chapter really shows it... Never seen lips so kissable!
I think it was you, ardane1, whose journal I read it in that there was no Ichi/Hime love over in Japan. But even so, that wouldn't stop Orohime for falling in love with that rock headed, dumbass of an idiot. And KT, being the evil man he is, I think would enjoy writing a one-sided love. It's like a triangle... Well, wait... A square? Rukia is to Ichigo [though he'd never admit it] as he is to Hime as she is to Ishida? ::laughs:: Next up, I'll do seven degrees of Kevin Bacon with it! 0.o THAT would be a trip...

Date: 2006-07-29 06:42 pm (UTC)Your right about Kubo-sensei, he'll do what he wants with his couplings, BUT I made this point over at a com yesterday, Kubo is big into little hints and symbolism, like all Japanese, and never does anything without a point, be it in dialog or a screen panel.
We have Ichigo, who is asleep, can't see or hear her (much like he is unaware of her feelings), Orihime confesses all of her feelings she has kept bottled up knowing he does not feel the same, she goes to kiss him but does not. Here is where is make a different point as well. Orihime thinks she is going off to die, why NOT kiss him?
1) She knows he does not return her feelings and knows where his true feelings lie.
2) She does not want to betray her friend Rukia. I think alot of people have forgotten that she has spent 2 months training with Rukia, and even Hisagi noticed what good friends they were becoming.
After the almost kiss, she says in Japanese "Sayonara", which is a good-bye you say when not expecting to see each other again. Essentially it was good-bye forever. It was almost like a breaking with the old. In order for Hime to get stronger on her own she has to let go of Ichigo.
When you compare that with when Rukia left (she did not say anything and she knew she was going to die...) or when Ichigo left SS and said good-bye to Rukia, he said, "Ja ne", which is "See you later."
Crap, *looks up* its a novel! This is just theories to make myself feel better ^^! They help you any?

Date: 2006-07-29 07:38 pm (UTC)Yeah, I didn't see/read the kanji/furigana/hiragana/katana that was with the dialogue translation, but I would have picked up the hints of her saying Sayonara vs Ja ne or just Ja. I think it also has something to do with the way they [Ichigo and Orhime] are both characterized. Ichigo will never 'go off to die' like Orohime is doing... Or maybe, she doesn't think she'll die immediately, but she knows she will never/can't ever come back.
::cracks knuckles:: Damn you Kubo! Stop screwin' with us! ::time for Yakuza tactics!:: Don't worry about the novel. Since I really don't want to join any more Bleach comms for a while, I'll just use you as a link to them and get the basic ideas of what everyone else is thinking...! ::leeches off you::
