I keep procrastinating on getting ready to go to work. Bad, I know. I have 20 minutes to get ready and GTFO.

I also forgot - recently remembered- one of the reasons why I disliked retail/grocery. People like to make you take your breaks hella early so by the time the end of the night comes when you want a break, you don't have any left.

Honestly, I'd rather take my break late. And late to me is at least after the halfway point of my shift, not goddamn 3 hours in 'just because I still have a 15 left later'. When you make we take the 15 minutes some 2 hours later when I still have 2.5 hours left before we leave, that doesn't help me. We aren't fucking busy and we have three people. Four, actually. Since the one in training [Hell, I'm still technically in training] doesn't count. I don't see why I can't take my lunch at 7 [after getting in at 2] and even skip my 5 altogether. I wouldn't even care. I hate and wasn't even hungry. ~_~

*sighs* I'm not going to suddenly ask for my break when we're slammed, guys. Can't you just let me take it at a reasonable time. =\

This pain of yours, I feel it.

Although--for most managers I work with, anyway--the managers kind of expect the baggers to take care of themselves, so I don't get this problem very often because I have to ask when I can take a break. The cashiers run into this problem a ton, though.

Lucky...! My last job I could take it whenever I wanted, or not even at all and leave early. I was spoiled. ~_~

I agree with you. When I worked as a cashier I didn't get to pick my breaks and was forced to go on a full hour 2 hours after I started.

THANK GOD I CHANGED DEPARTMENTS.

I find that really obnoxious. I can see why we can't choose when we can take them, but people work differently. In my department, they have this stupid thing where everyone has to take their breaks back to back.

No, I don't understand this or the purpose at all. But when someone wants to take an early break because they're starving -even though they got there only 2 hours ago- they take it and then I HAVE to take mine. It pisses me off so much.

WHAAAAAAAAT. Okay, that is bullshit but I guess it is because they need people on the floor covering while others are on their breaks. Just... sucks that one has to go after the other so none of you get a say in when to go and your time is determined by whoever goes first. DX

I know why we can't have them at the same time, but the inability to have them spaced out miffs me. I work with a bunch of older ladies [and one guy younger than me] who all have body clocks that are totally opposite of mine. It's annoying.

Sounds like poop. When I worked retail (Gamestop), I could take my break whenever I wanted so long as I didn't abuse it.

8| I haven't ever worked a retail job that allowed that. The best I could do was stay suspiciously quiet until I wanted to take my break, then speak up. The managers would often go D< at me but I didn't care.
