It annoys me when people say, "Man, CSI/NCIS/Ect/Ect is so unrealistic. I can't watch it."

Then don't watch it.

It's a TV Show. It's entertainment and I'm entertained while watching it. You should be happy it isn't completely realistic anyway. Do you REALLY want criminals to know everything about how they might get caught? I know I don't. So let them think it takes only 30 minutes to run that electrospamtometer machine thingy instead of five hours.

I'm going to go enjoy my show now. So shut up about it. =o=

I find myself watching re-runs and such when they come on. Spike TV Marathons. Mmm. I didn't get into NCIS much at first, but when it comes on and I just so happen to be in the room [>_>] I watch it. \o

I don't even know what station or night it comes on. I usually just stumble on it by accident XD;

...but I don't watch it. XD I only end up seeing shows like that when someone else has the tv on and I'm in the same room. ;p

No problem with that. \o You don't go talking about how bad it is to people who enjoy it.

Unless you do. In which case I make *icon face*

Nah, not unless something sets me off to the point of ranting.

Unless is a Sci-Fi original series. Those are totally fair game okay. >_>

I like CSI for the "this is how I think it went down" moments and the scene changes to their theory. Or the "this is how I think it went down" moments when they're standing on the crime scene and everything replays back, but with the transparent effect 83

I watch it because it's unrealistic and then I make fun of it. And trust me, the correct information is definitely out there and readily available, so it doesn't matter if the TV shows are real or not.

I don't get the point of that, unless you get that much enjoyment out of making fun of it. Seems like a waste of time to me. And sure, the information is out there, but that overestimates the amount of effort/pre-planning a lot of people do before committing a crime. Seems like it's mostly afterwords that they go 'Oh shi- Gotta cover this up DX'

What I do with my time is my own business, whether or not you think it's worth it. 8D Yes, I get pleasure out of picking at it, because I happen to know firsthand how things really run.

Most crimes are minor ones that people don't bother to cover up, but there are premeditated ones where the perp knows how they're going to hide it, but that wasn't my point. The point is that you stated that we don't want people to know how to cover up their tracks, when the reality is that if they wanted to know they could find out easily.

Yes, but don't talk about it to me is all. I didn't make the post to say 'What you're doing is pointless' it was a 'Don't talk about how silly it is because I'm just enjoying myself'. That's all.

Yes, easily accessible because of the internet, the library, what have you. Just because the information is there doesn't mean you want the criminals to know it. Those books are meant for people in the field, but anyone can look at them. The fact criminals look at it is just a side-effect.

It's okay to not like the fact that some people watch it for the lulz, I guess. Just like it's okay to discount the opinions of people just because you don't agree with them. I enjoy it, but I pick at it, along with most of TV, because TV is an accurate representation of nothing unless it's a documentary of some kind.

So you think we should have a screening process for this information?

"Are you a criminal?"
"No."
"Okay, you can learn this then."

To say nothing of case studies and other such things. No, it's not aimed at educating criminals and making them better criminals, but there's no way to stop them getting their hands on it if they want it.

You can watch it for whatever reason, but I don't want to hear about how inaccurate it is or have someone interrupt the episode to point at random things I don't care about. I'm not discounting your opinion because I know you're in that field and I know you know exactly what they're supposed to be doing, not doing, and how things work. That's what school is for.

I purposefully said nothing about screening information or stopping someone from getting said information. There's enough red tape to go through in other parts of life without having to explain why you want to borrow a book about [insert topic here]. Not to mention lawsuits would be popping up like weeds if they even attempted it.

So you'd rather have us keep our mouths shut about what we really think because you don't like it when people disagree with you? 8D

I'd rather have people keep their mouth shut when I make a post saying I wish people would shut up about the subject we're currently talking about now.
