14. Teacher Teacher || Itachi recalls calling Anko ‘sensei’ once… He used to call one other ‘sensei’, simply because it amused the man... back when he was younger and eager to please in his own way, but he’d outgrown that now. Outgrown needing to use the word ‘sensei’ and pushing the implied inferiority onto himself. He had called her sensei mockingly, but the earnest way she had replied reminded him of what he was younger. Not that he had any desires of that nature towards Madara or anyone else at that time, but there were many things you did to prove yourself to your ‘sensei’.

He did not need to give someone a title for him to learn, but it only takes one strain of doubt before it all goes wrong. One occurrence and its consequence, rubbed in by the one you once looked up to –though to him it wasn’t so much looking up to as the desire to kill. So, for now, he would throw away that word, but he would still take knowledge from others. From her. Even from him. But he doesn’t deny there might be a time when he calls Anko ‘sensei’ and means it.
