You could get one of the PS1 versions of DDR if you want to try it out. I'd suggest Konamix if you go that route.
There's also XBox versions, and one Gamecube version (though that one's relatively expensive and takes a little work to track down).
And for washing hair... I take it you probably showered? 'cause probably if you're trying to get stuff like braids out it'd work better to take a bath where you can just let your hair sit and soak in the water...
