She had blocked out the words a long time ago and could now feel the resonating emotions that went with them. Anger. Irritation. Hatred. The two men argued over her head and the inflections of the words pounded into her skull.
"O-Xii. Sa-O. Please, just stop..." she begged, fingers rubbing her temples to try and message away the throbbing in her head. Their silence brought immediate relief. She opened her eyes to given them an appreciative look until she saw their expressions. Sweet Ring what had she done?
Salom smiled at her, eyes glistening with pride and amusement at her slip up. He nudged the man next to him. "Hey, Xiong. You hear that? She called me Sa-O!" The affection implied in the name making him beam with happiness.
"Captain Iden!" A call from outside the tent make Salom curse as he was forced to attend to some matter outside. He did poke at her once more saying 'Sa-O!' in a good imitation of her tone of voice before going to his duties.
Xiong looked at her, face unreadable. She stood and her eyes skirted his and she made her way to the tent flap. He grabbed her wrist and she willed herself to look at him.
"Rei..."
And with that one word, the one utterence of her shortened name, she knew she couldn't pretend anymore...
