Anime Mid-Atlantic 2006

kageisukeYep, here I am again, at another convention... with no money... >_< But even so, I had a LOT of fun this year...
So, my con experience didn't start really until Saturday. Friday night, I went to work because I didn't ask for that day off when I got hired, and of course, we got out kinda late compared to the last few days because somebody wants to spite me. I went to Imouto's house with my stuff [which I left in the trunk when I went to work] and her dad let me in. I spent the time reading manga that I hadn't caught up on that she bought recently. Hana Yori Dango 18, Basara 18, and a few others I can't remember right now...
Then, they came home, and I screwed trying to sleep cus it just wasn't happening. They told me about Guests Uncensored, which I REALLY wish I could have gone to, and I suppose I could have, but gas is way too much for me to go there AND I didn't have the directions 'cus I gave then to Pan... But anyway, they told me about that and a really addictive game in the game room that was like a slot machine. Interesting... I wanted to go play it later, but I never did...
Saturday morning, I get up at around 8:30 or something, took a shower and nudged Pan. She grumbles, which means, 'I don't wanna get up' and I scowl, take her keys, move her car, and leave in Kyo-han... =_= When I got there, I trudged upstairs to registration, got a badge, and then went back downstairs. I looked at the schedule, saw there was NOTHING to do. Sometime around 11, Pan and Imouto showed up. I can't recall, really, what happened from the time I got there until around 12:30, but, I'll fill in some of the blank spots. I wandered around, Pan called telling me they had ONE LAST FULL MOON #6 which isn't supposed to come out until JULY and I made a bee-line for the Dealer's Room. And as I was bee-lining, Crystal, who I graduated with and hadn't seen since then [and doesn't like anime] pops up out of no where. 0.o We talked about what we were doing, and I was like 'Why are you here? o.0' and she said she was dragged by a friend. It was fun catching up and remembering things [like our calculator conversations during Statistics] that I had forgotten. I had to say good bye to her early and run to the Dealer's Room where I waited in a semi-short line to get in and buy MY FULL MOON #6.
Up to that point, I hadn't even been in there... So, I looked around, proceeded to do the shake-test on a few Bleach Figurines to see if I could figure out which one was the sexy version of That Bastard [which I had no intentions of buying at this con] and failed at trying to help a guy to get the figures he wanted. But they were all in black plastic bags in clear boxes and didn't shake, so I couldn't do the shake test. ::shrugs:: We wondered further around the room then, I shook a few more boxes, then proceeded to leave. The Dealer's Room was bigger and better last year before they moved.
I randomly saw Josh [who graduated last year] and Erik [who graduated this year and can be knows as Kris Madison from my story Castor]. I saw Cory, too [who I used to work with at Regal]. Seiji was there, and so was Trey, but I didn't see either of them until later.
At 12:30, I went to the cel painting class, sat through a mini-lecture [which was both informative/boring and amusing]. Just as we were about to start, I just decided to ditch... I just... couldn't take it... Imouto had called me before to tell me 'Mr. Buy My Book' had a table downstairs and we went to harass him. shinja_ninja to force her into eating lunch with us. She, of course, was too lazy to come to us, so I went to her. No food places were open over there, so she had to come back to the convention center anyway and I got more exercise than I wanted. =_<
We had 5.25$ chicken strips and fries and shared a large drink. She now owes Imouto 6.25... [One dollar for the drink] ::snerks:: We talked, I have no idea about what, and then went downstairs to bid her farewell back to work and laugh because I could have worked this weekend but didn't... Along the way, we saw Chris [Random asian guy she knows who usually has an artist's table] and then we were off.
We got there kinda early for the AMVs, but since there was nothing ELSE to do, we sat down and waited. I read Full Moon #6 and was happy the ending was only a semi-cliffhanger.
At the AMVs, the Drama and Romance were as boring as hell as usual. I remember voting for "Hero" a Chrono Crusade one and The Onegai Twins one for Romance. Pan ruined the ending to Chrono Crusade for the guy behind us and I apologized. I was just going to say 'Oh! They didn't include the spoilerific ending' and Pan says 'Oh! They didn't show their Death Scene'. ::sighs:: Too late now. Then, it went into action, and there was this funny Gundam one that was like a car commercial [and I still think it should have been under comedy and not action, but meh] and a Mai Otome one that really piqued my interest. Now I HAVE to see it... It's like Mai Hime all over again. I chose the Mai Otome one [I hope, cus I couldn't remember the title]. For the comedy, I had to go with AMV no Baka 2. The CCS Movie 2 scene where Sakura ran off the cliff and jumped at Shaoron [and missed, GOD it was funny] is what got my vote... I expect Pan'll download it within the next few days...
Right after the AMVs, we went to Mr.'Buy My Book's panel. Yeah, his name is Robert Aldrich, btw. It was about his new book Ghee, which sounded so good, and it comes out in July, so I can buy it at Otakon when his answer to my 'Are you going to Otakon?' question goes from 'I'm working on that' to a definite 'Yes!'. He talked about his other two books, too, and he really does have a way of making you want to read things. Imouto bought them, and now I just have to wait for her to finish.
After more harassment, we went to the game room. I kicked ass in DOA4, got my ass KICKED in DOA4, then wandered on over to Naruto... I stayed in the game room from about 6pm to 10is. Yeah, Naruto took part of my soul again... and since this time I KNEW what I was doing, I didn't die immediately and got into a few final battles. Yeah, but when I first got on, they ganged up on my 3 to 1, the bastards, and I'm happy to say I at least got a few hits in before they demolished me. Yeah, you losers. You suck.
Anyway, after that, we went to regular two on two and I got better... ::cackles:: It was way too much fun, but then we went to the end of cosplay to get Pan, but it still wasn't over. Yeah, when the Bleach thing one a prize, two rows of people in front of us got up. They had almost EVERYBODY. They were missing Yoruichi, Soi Fong, Yama-jii [1st captain], Iba, Komamaru [I think?] and maybe a few others, but they were still a formidable group of at least 15. That lets you know that Bleach has WAY too many characters.
Anyway, we left for the car and Pan caught up with us. We went to a gas station for food and money for parking tomorrow. We got home, I read Hagaren 8 and SPASMED at the differences from the anime. Was that HOENHEIM? THAT was SLOTH? He's WRATH? You DRANK GREED?! Did Barry the Chopper just DECLARE HIS LOVE TO HAWKEYE? ::dead::
We complained that Imouto needed to learn to sleep without the damn TV on, and I was the last one to sleep. The next day, I woke up at 9:20, rolled over and went back to sleep. Then, got up again at 10 because my Aunt called about taking my little cousin to the con, which I was hoping she'd forgotten about. We got there around 11 and my cousin got there not that long afterwards. They gave her 20 dollars [10 of which went to registration]. That seemed so cheap to me, but... ::sighs:: If you don't have any money...
We went to the Dealer's Room and she got a Sand Headband for exactly 10 dollars... =_= I took her to the Artist Alley for a second and asked Mr. ‘Buy My Book’ a few questions Imouto had like, 'A Waffle House?' and 'You really like SUVs'. There were a few comments, too. 'Yeah, he really is Vincent's better half.' I have more quotes from this book and I haven't even read it yet. Most of them are from Vincent's better half. He enjoys jumping on SUVs and demanding 'Don't make me come in there.' I swear, if you switched that out with 'Am I gonna hafta smacka bitch?' it would have worked JUST as well.
After that, we went to the game room and played Naruto. Yes. From about 1:30 to 4 when they kicked us out, I played Naruto with my cousin Tara and other random people. It was so fun... I got re-addicted. It's so much better when you actually know what you're doing... Of course, there was one asshole there, but meh.
Eventually, it was me, Tara, and two other guys playing. It always came down to me and this other guy, and because he would play Naruto, I HAD to play Sasuke. And we would meet in the final battle and it was so fun... Tara didn't do much damage to him, though, which sucks, cus I would have so little life left by the time I got to him cus Kakashi was doing his damndest to kill me... =_= But I won the first few times, but then I started to lose cus I didn't have enough life left to beat him. =_= Then, when we begged the last game off of the game staff, I won the last match! Sasuke had his Revenge! Mwahaha! This is why I go to cons now... The game room calls my name... But yeah, it's funny. Let's total all the money I spent!

Parking : 10$ [I have to get some change from Pan]

So, a total of 25.50. That should go down to 22.50 once I get my money from Pan for parking that day... She still owes me 2 bucks from the movies for buying her that drink. +_+ I just forget she owes me money because we never borrow money from each other... Aa well. So I only went over my budget by 5.50! Yosh!
Yeah, and as a last note, Imouto reduced her debt to 7 dollars. I kinda don't remember how, anymore. She bought Cove, which was 10 bucks. Oh yeah, and she bought/traded in for Monster which was 10 bucks. Now all she has to do is pay me back that 7 bucks, and no, I still haven't changed my mind about letting her borrow more money. She has money anyway from graduation, so she shouldn't be asking.
Note: For doing almost nothing at this con except being in the game room, I still wrote 2 full pages in Times New Roman 9pt font...
