[livejournal.com profile] crack_alchemist. Seriously. It took my SO long to get to it. I was in the middle of the Liveship Traders Trilogy [2nd Trilogy of Trilogies by Robin Hobb] and I didn't want to start another series right in the middle. So, I finally finished it. [Yay Brashen and Althea!] Now, I started Exiles. At first, I was like... this is soooo boring... But I said the same thing about Robin Hobb, too. Every fantasy book [so far] I've started, even in the middle of the trilogy, I find boring because it's all introductions or reminders of what happened in the LAST book. So either way, I got to page 16, yeah, only 16, before Melissa stole it from me and gave me the first two books of the last trilogy... =_= I tell you I cried. But I'm happy this series is at least 300 hundred pages shorter than the Liveship Traders and Farseer. I'm just hoping Fitz, now that he's 30-something, won't be as STUPID as he was in his youth and NEARLY DIE 7 fricking times. ::shakes head::

Either way, she gave me the book back that monday saying she didn't have enough time to read it anyway [even though she read HALF of it this weekend]. I grumbled because I could have been reading it then because I wanted to finish it before I started the Tawny Man Trilogy. Which, by the way, I didn't start that weekend. I think I read Basara that weekend and lazed around the house.

::sighs:: So now I'm going to try to do something I don't normally do. Read two books at once. It really isn't that hard. People do it all the time, but I just never liked it. I guess I never gave myself enough credit to not mix up the [completely different] storylines of each book. I also hate stopping and will tend to read one book all day. Melissa reads one and stops when she gets bored and switches books. I just push through the boring parts to get to the interesting parts so I don't stop reading it all together. =_=

The way Melanie Rawn writes is interesting though. It's different than what I got used to. =_= It's like trying to change from Sydney Shelton and John Sandford to James Patterson. Of course, it isn't that much of a shock. James Patterson's writing is so much... skimpier? than the previous writers. It's so simple I can't take it. Even though Four Blind Mice was good, I just couldn't get over the big type and simple language and... lack of description? Shelton's a pervert [or so I muse to myself] and has lots of detail about things... Shelton's not perverted, quite, but I like his descriptions... though I really should read the Prey series in order... =_=

Anyway, back to Rawn. She didn't exactly drop me into the story, but the way terms and names started flying around I couldn't make heads or tails of stuff some times. The political stuff I was never good at even though I find it all extremely interesting... =_= That's what makes my currently story so hard. ::groans:: Either way, I'm trying to read both books at once. Exiles and Fool's Errand. Right now, I've paused Exiles, since I'm on page 131, and am going to pick back up on Fool's Errand since I'm on page 66. FE has so much backstory [baggage ~_~] that it's still flying around in my head. Though it isn't hard to remember what happened [it was only a few weeks ago] by reading it all so fast, I know I glossed over stuff.Oh well. I won't be rereading them any time soon. >_>

And now, since Melissa and I are in two different Majors, I don't know how much we'll talk. Or rather, argue. We'll still trade books, but we won't have many [if any] classes together. ::rolls eyes:: We argued a lot more than we talked, but that's because we both think it's fun. ::laughs:: We got rather vicious. Mr.T would be like 0.o 'Guys guys!' and we'd laugh and go back to work... for all of 5 minutes... ::shrugs:: Ryan, who sits next to me, is someone I threaten to beat a lot. He turns off my monitor, and I poke him viciously. ::sighs:: I have such bad relationships, right?

Ah well. That's it. I'm starving. Gonna go eat now...
