Oh hay, politics rears it's head again!

Because I get these things from Kris, they always have the democratic political lean... but it's hilarious for everyone until the end. 8D; Maybe funny in a bad way >_>

I was listening to my coworkers talk about how socialism wasn't the way the country should go and how it was a step back and against what all those people fought for and wondered a few things:

1. Why is demanding government support -which I'm helping to pay for- bad when other's shitty decisions who I have little or no control over put me out?
2. Do capitalism and equality even belong in the same sentence? They seem to contradict one another on the most basic levels. How can you want the cream to rise to the top and yet want everyone to be equal? Or are they just saying everyone should have an equal opportunity? Because that shit isn't true and hasn't been since this country began.
3. Why is capitalism so much better? I've heard the 'yay progress! yay competition!' shit over and over. What ELSE is there? That can't be it.
