...going through and looking for some new icons. I think it's about time I use the freaking space I bought [though it's more so for the 'expand' option on threads; can't live without it] when someone on an icon comm asked where the credit was for the fanart they used and they said it was on their credit page and that person asked why it wasn't on the post and the owners were like, stop complaining we credited it on our credit page.

I responded when I told them what icons they were taking with:

I think the only reason that person had a problem is because the credit wasn't on this specific page. If it is, I totally missed it 'cus I wasn't really looking. If it's on your credit page, I don't really see a problem... until I go there to find the artist and go .... щ(°Д°щ) OH GOD WHICH ONE IS IT?! XD

and they replied with:

I'm sorry, I'm going to have to ask you not to use them. Unfortunately, with all the complaints, I'm not going to keep them available. I have more important things to do with my life than having to empty my inbox of people complaining. Once again, I apologize.

I'm just kinda.... whut? So I just shrugged, said okay, and deleted them. I don't really get what their issue is and don't feel like duking it out with them. Since when did an explanation become a complaint? If a person has specific credits that they ask for, why wouldn't you just heed them to avoid some random person raising a stink over it? I liked the icons, but the one I really need *see icon* is safe. I just have to get a new nosepick icon, since I've decided I need one.

I need to take a shower before bed. *rolls off*

People are retarded about their icons. OH I SPENT SO MUCH TIME AND EFFORT ON THIS 100X100 PIXEL SQUARE and all. Nevermind that most the icon posts I've seen often include several variants of the same basic icon with a few tweaks, thus the sheer number of icons isn't all that impressive. And the fact that, y'know, they didn't make the art they're using in the first place.

The people who made the icon don't require credit, but the fan artist who drew the art did, and that's where the issue arose.

As for crediting, I credit icons even if they don't care because I want to know where I found it and take more of a style I like. Requiring credit and all that doesn't matter to me at all, since I do it anyway.

She took them down, since a lot of people were complaining about the fanart being used. So, I suppose, the one icon I *did* want to take that was official art was okay. *strokes chin*

I'm sure I can find another Shinpachi icon like this or eventually make my own one day. I just wanted a 'warm and fuzzy' icon.

I spend a good amount of way too much time playing around with making icons, and honestly, even I don't see what the big deal with credit. If I saw someone using one of my icons, I wouldn't really care. Even if they "credited" themself, I don't think I would raise a fuss, because if they need to do that to feel good about about their person, then damn they need the credit a lot more than I do. 0.o

Fan art, I can understand to some extent because that's your work, but even then I think I would be flattered that someone like my art that much to use it.

I'unno, I'm really hangloose anyway, so I'm probably not a good one to opinionize on the issue. 8P
