I hate animal cruelty, and even though they were "Animals", I still hated the book for how animals were treated in it. From what I understand, the sequel is even worse.

It's a shame because I would have enjoyed the alternate take on The Wizard of Oz if it wasn't for, what I felt, were unnecessary bits of revulsion. For example, in the beginning, Elphaba's preacher dad gets his ass kicked by a mob and "loses his bowels" because of it. Come the fuck on! Was that fuckin' necessary?
