I'm bored, so another one...

::sighs:: I should do something more constructive, right? But I'm not, so here's another rant. This one is about doctors, malpractice suits, and prescriptions.

I have respect for doctors, I really do, but there are times when they piss me off. Pharmaceutical companies in general always piss me off. People who SUE doctors for ridiculous amounts of money also piss me off. Now that the basics are outta the way, I'll bitch and moan in more detail.

Let's start with the money gorging pharmaceutical companies. Is there a drug out there for everything? No. But they are DAMN WELL gonna try to make it that way. 'Restless Leg Syndrome'? Come ON. Your legs fucking TWITCH at night and you roll around. Get OVER it. How many other random things have they come up with pills for recently? Why do people think that a pill will solve all their problems? They make bajillions of dollars off other people's suffering and might as well own an office in the Pentagon/White House for all those bastards are doing in preventing the people from getting lynched at the Pharmacy. The question I should research is who gets more? Gas companies or pharmaceutical companies?

But, of course, if no one PRESCRIBES the medicine, then they probably wouldn't be so rich, right? Being a doctor must suck. I mean, you go to school for what, 8 fucking years? You have hundreds of thousands of dollars in school loans to pay back. People leave their lives/health in your hands and it's your duty to help them the best you can. On the one hand, you can not prescribe medicine because it's only going to marginally help and there's no point in the patient wasting their money. On the OTHER hand, if you DON'T prescribe it, some patient can come back and say you were being bias for not telling them, didn't give them the best care, etc and slap you with some MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR MALPRACTICE SUIT. People leave themselves absolutely no choice in whether or not they want their doctors to drug them to death because if they don't, they try to squeeze the fucking life outta them.

Your pain and suffering isn't worth 120 million dollars, you opportunistic asshat.

Plastic surgeons... I both loathe and pity them. You make people feel better about themselves by changing things that nature decided to be a bastard about and make wrong. Then, after that's done, some make a small suggestion and plant more ideas into the already malleable patient's mind about other surgeries to fix imperfects they may have NEVER thought of. Then, you proceed to fuck up something that wasn't ever life threatening and get sued. On the one hand, I don't pity you or your victim because the odds are, the surgery wasn't to fix something life-threatening. On the other-hand, I pity the doctor for taking the opportunity to make someone feel better about themselves and FAILING, and the victim for being worse off than they were before. I think the only cosmetic surgeries I have little to no problem with are for those who were disfigured by some accident, cancer, or genetic disease and are tired of people looking at them like some kind of goddamn freak.

But seriously, isn't vanity a sin or something? [/rant]
